Jeff's Besos' 💋: Lips Full of Knowledge & Ad-Free Podcasts
Strategic Insights from Bezos & Ad-Free Podcasts
Mr. Jeff Bezos has lots of besos (Spanish for kisses) ready for you. Get ready.
Jeff's Besos 💋 #1
Jeff Bezos’s letters to stockholders are incredible.
I’d find it hard to believe they wouldn’t be educational and inspiring for anyone interested in business - to any degree.
They’re a goldmine full of knowledge or what I’ll call here “Jeff's Besos 💋.”
I recommend reading Walter Isaacson’s (biographer of Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein, Elon Musk, and Leonardo da Vinci) book Invent and Wander: The Collected Writings of Jeff Bezos, With an Introduction by Walter Isaacson, in which he compiles all of Jeff Bezos’ letters.
Here’re just some of my top takeaways:
Always Day 1
Jeff Bezos talks about "Always Day 1," which means always thinking like a startup, no matter how big you get. It's all about staying flexible and innovative and never taking customers for granted.
Day 2? That's when you start getting complacent and lose your edge.
Door Analog
Bezos uses this "Door Analog" to explain Amazon's decisions.
Type 1 decisions are big and irreversible, like one-way doors.
Type 2 decisions are smaller and reversible, like two-way doors.
Many seemingly important things are actually Type 2 decisions. These are things like testing new features, hiring, or marketing strategies. Move fast, keep going.
Long-term Thinking
I love Jeff Bezos’ focus on long-term thinking. Instead of focusing on short-term wins, Amazon focuses on big-picture goals that produce value over time. Amazon invests heavily in customer experience and new tech, even if it takes a while to see the payoff.
This strategy builds a stronger, tougher company. Amazon Prime, for example, started as a big investment but paid off like crazy over time.
Your Personal Jeff
Using AI, I created a way to engage with Jeff’s stockholder letters and knowledge—ask for summaries, discuss topics in the letters, and more.
